Cuervo Take Me Away!!

I need something alot stronger than Calgon!
As I’ve said before, (many times and I’m sick of hearing myself say it and type it) my daughter was diagnosed with 3 learning disabilities. She struggled through the year and would just barley get her grades up to a D in Math and English in time for her final report card. The districts policy is that if you have more than one F, you can’t participate in any field trips or graduating activities, including walking to get your diploma, and end of year party. I happen to be on the eighth grade graduation party planning committee. That’s not why I’m doing it, but damn it sucks if I have to be at the party and my own daughter isn’t there. In the last month I’ve been busting my ass trying to get donations from local businesses for the raffle at the party too. (part of the reason I haven’t had time to blog) Anyway, the school counselor called me last week to let me know that Mac had a D in English and an F in Math. So she was fine, BUT, she is supposed to graduate next Thursday and we still haven’t received any announcement like her friends all have. I called the school counselor yesterday to see what was up, and she still hasn’t called me back.
I get a text from Mac while I’m working today saying she has 2 F’s. She says, “I did all I could and it still wasn’t good enough.” WTF???? I’m pissed, so I call the school and nobody answers the phone. The automated thing comes on, so I left a voice mail with her English teacher. I texted Mac back and told her to go beg her teacher for some extra credit or something to raise her grade. About an hour later Mac texted back saying, “She is going to give me a D. She says I worked real hard and I had a high F”. I felt a little better, but wouldn’t rest easy until I heard it from the teacher or the counselor. Finally a few minutes ago I talked to the teacher and she assured me she gave Mac a D. I’ve never been so happy for a D!! The policy sucks! Her teacher even agreed, it should be based on behavior not academics. Especially for those who are not as capable. So anyway, this has been going on for awhile. My goal was for Mac to at least be able to graduate with her class. She’s been at this school since Kindergarten. She’s had most of these friends that long. I’ve even been friends with some of the mom’s that l long too. If Mac didn’t care about graduation I wouldn’t either. Mac even said she didn’t care about the party as much and the graduation. Well now we know she gets to do both.
Among other things my son broke his ankle back in March and went to a specialist that was in his insurance network, only come to find out, he doesn’t have that insurance anymore. UPS changed medical insurance companies and didn’t notify him. He did get something from the insurance company though, but he thought it was pertaining to his dental insurance because it’s the same company. So he didn’t read it. This is getting confusing now. His medical insurance was a different company from his dental. Oh yeah, and he applied for disability, but we denied because apparently he was unemployed because he wasn’t able to work due to being incarcerated for a felony. No lie, we got this explanation from the state. First of all, he is employed and second, he’s never been arrested. Right? Ummmm, Taylor? Is there something you haven’t told us? So, we take the letter to the state disability office and explain the mistake. The lady says, “Oh, yeah this happens all the time, the doctor who filled out the paper work overlooked this question so we just assume it’s true”. RIGHT! So, finally he started getting his checks. Taylor has had a quick lesson in red tape bullshit!
Around the same time Taylor broke his ankle he got a girlfriend. Within like the first 2 weeks of them dating, I woke up at 4am and noticed the lights and TV still on in the family room. I go in there and they are both cuddled up asleep on the couch. How cute! (gag) I woke them up and told Taylor to get her home!! It was a school night for her and she was only 17 at the time. (Luckily she’s 18 now) I’m thinking why didn’t the parents call her cell phone wondering where their daughter was at 2am on a school night, let alone, 4am??? Also, the PDA got a little out of hand in front of my daughter so I told them to cool it! I think she’s a little presumptuous. She heads straight to the fridge whenever she comes over and just starts fixing herself something to eat. She’ll go in Taylor’s room, and fall asleep. She’s very chatty, I think she can’t stop herself from talking when she’s nervous. I don’t know, I liked her when I first met her, but the more I get to know her, the more I think she’s a little too forward. They are here all the time. Seriously, ALL THE TIME! I told them to go to the park the other day and let me have my house back. Ahhh the joys of parenting.
Finally, I got a speeding ticket yesterday! YAY! My first one ever. I get to go to traffic school and pay an outrageous fee to the state of California. How lucky am I???
Rant over!

Yeah, ummm….you’ve had some stress. Hopefully, it wall begin to ease a bit.
I hope things work out for your daughter. My heart breaks when I have students that sincerely try and just have things interfering with their academics. The desire is there and it doesn’t seem fair that they can’t obtain the same rewards as others doing less.
RT said it better than I could.
ahhh, you have had a really bad week! sending you positive vibes xxxx keep you pecker up girl xxxxxxxxx
