San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom won’t cooperate with federal immigration authorities, and his city is now printing brochures telling illegal aliens they are welcome. Columnist Debra Saunders denounced Newsom for flouting the law. “It’s not just that Gavin Newsom doesn’t like our immigration laws, but we’re telling people that if you don’t like a law, you don’t have to obey it, just break it.” But Joseph Alioto Veronese, a member of the S.F. Police Commission, defended his mayor. “We’re dealing with people in a compassionate way, to make sure that they’re getting city services and they’re not hiding.” The Factor sarcastically offered to lend a hand. “We are going to help Mayor Newsom in a big way. We want everyone in the world to know that if you can sneak into the U.S. illegally, San Francisco is the place to go.” |
